Clinic Information

Greetings

Ozora means “big sky” or “sky” in Japanese.

Irie Childrens Clinic has been here in Satte since 1992, and it is a great honour to succeed this local paediatric clinic and re-open as Ozora Kids Clinic from summer 2025. I am from the local area and also a mother of 3 children. I left Japan when I was 15 and moved to the United Kingdom, and ended up spending 10 years there. I qualified as a medical doctor in London, and moved back to Japan when I graduated from medical school. Even though my career as a doctor started in Japan, I have a global and diverse perspective and experience.

Ozora means “big sky” or “sky” in Japanese. What image do you have when you hear that word? Some may imagine the blue sky on a hot summers day, whilst others may think of a gloomy grey London sky during winter. It will vary from person to person. Your image depends on your preconception of that word.

This preconception could be tricky when dealing with medical or kids issues. What’s normal here may not be acceptable elsewhere. I am sure you will be more aware of this when you are raising kids abroad or in an international environment. As society is becoming more global, more diverse and more informative, this could cloud our decision and become the source of confusion.

I have named this clinic from Psalm 19:1, as the sky is a constant, above us. It may appear different depending on the day or location or your feelings, but it is actually there unchanging. Another unchanging truth is that children are the next generation, and we are all responsible for raising them. I have to say we are living in challenging times in guiding them as our core values seem to be changing so rapidly. It is my desire and passion to provide medical support to the local paediatric community as well as serving together to raise the next generation. I will provide you with up-to-date evidence based clinical practice while respecting your family value or preference, in giving you a tailored made solution for your children.
